Mission STATEMENT:
The mission of the Regional Mathematics and Science Center is to provide the leadership and support for systemic change in mathematics and science education throughout the Saginaw Valley State University service area for preschool through higher education students, teachers and administrators.
Vision Statement:
As a hub for science and mathematics teacher education in the Tri-County and Thumb regions, the SVSU Regional Mathematics and Science Center (MSC) is well positioned to help confront challenges within education systems and workforce training. Partnerships between the Center, the University and local school districts have improved the quality of and access to the latest teaching techniques and tools necessary to promote best practice in the classroom. Programs like the Teacher Specialist Leader (TSL) have promoted the growth of school personnel from within who are ready and willing to offer collegial service on a wide variety of content and pedagogical topics. TSL’s are posed and ready to offer services to their home districts, the MSC, and the region as a whole representing an easy and affordable avenue for professional development. This vision relies on the wise use of MSC resources, mobilizing district leaders, and collaborating with other stakeholders that serve the broader mathematics and science community.
